Why is life so complex, and can it be simplified?

Why is life so complex, and can it be simplified?

Life is complex because of the practically infinite (PI) number of variables and factors involved. Life has been evolving on Earth for about 4 billion years. Despite its underlying biological complexity, life can be lived in simplified and optimized in many ways. There is a practically infinite (PI) number of philosophies (thinking systems), scientific discoveries, and advanced technologies (tools and methods), already developed and to be developed in the future, that can be leveraged to simplify the process of being alive. In our opinion, a way to simplify--if not oversimplify--life is to master what we call the Law of Perceived Convenience (LPC). LPC stands for the proposition that when given the choice, living organisms choose whatever they perceive to be more convenient to them from a pain / pleasure computation standpoint. The LPC can simplify the understanding of "free will" and help in making predictions about future conduct. Mastering LPC is like having your own "crystal ball" to predict human behavior including yours. The better your crystal ball, the easier your life can be.

The terms complex and complicated are commonly used interchangeably, but they are not the same thing or do not have to be taken as meaning the same thing. Complexity relates to the number of parts and processes in a system together with the variables and functions making them possible. Complication relates to the number of parts or steps in a process.

  • Complex. A complex system is made up of many parts that interact in a non-linear way, making it hard to predict or control. Complex problems have many unknowns and interrelated factors, so they can't be solved with simple rules and processes.
  • Complicated. A system is complicated when it consists of many interconnected parts or steps. Complicated systems, however, follow a discernable pattern that can be solved and optimized.

Biological complexity is a fact of life due to the cumulative nature of evolution and natural selection. The absence of smart design and the reliance of biological life on random evolution and natural selection have a high price in terms of underlying complexity. For example, the heart depends on a super complex biological framework to perform a simple fluid pump operation. It will take time and effort for humans to gradually repair by replacement the biological shortfalls of organic life with advanced technological solutions of artificial or hybrid life. In the meantime, the best recourse is to keep walking and moving forward.

Philosophies, technologies, and scientific discoveries ("PTSD") can simplify life. Together, this "PTSD" can help humans improve their understanding of life and the development of systems to simplify it. There is a practically infinite (PI) number of PTSD already and PI more to come in the future.

  • Philosophies are schools of thought or thinking systems offering a framework to understand physical phenomena and improve human performance. Humans have been developing philosophies for millennia.
  • Technologies are tools and methods. Humans, and all other living organisms for that matter, have been developing diverse technologies (tools and methods) since the beginning of life.
  • Scientific discoveries are measurable observations subject to independent verification and time-tested validation.

The law of perceived convenience (LPC) is a Creatix idea to based on our opinions about the pain / pleasure mechanism of life. All animals on Earth, including humans, are biologically programmed to avoid pain and seek pleasure. Every chapter in your life, and every chapter in the entire history of humanity, without exception, can be easily explained by the pain / pleasure mechanism of life.

Everything a human ever did, is doing, and will do was, is, and will be based on the biological programming to avoid the multidimensional perception known as pain and seek the counter perception known as pleasure. Even instances of animals and humans choosing a form of physical pain is explained by the perceived convenience of obtaining a greater pleasure in return. Armed with knowledge and mastery of LPC, you can begin to predict human behavior, including your own.

In sum, life is super complex because there are zillions of naturally selected processes that have evolved over a long period of time. Despite the biological complexity of life, philosophies, technologies, and scientific discoveries (PTSD) can be used to simplify how we live our lives. Future PTSDs may even replace evolutionary biological life with programmable artificial life. A simple method to simplify life is what we refer to as the Law of Perceived Convenience (LPC). Animals, including humans, always choose what they perceive to be more convenient to them from a pain / pleasure computation standpoint. Mastering LPC can simplify your life by facilitating the understanding of all animal behavior and helping you predict future conduct. Practice makes perfect. To develop proficiency in LPC, you need to practice. Creatix offers consulting on how to improve your LPC skills.

Now you know it.

Live well. Die better. Enjoy.

Will AI enslave or free humans?

April 9, 2024 Who knows. The most likely scenario is that AI will free humans, not only from forced work for survival and that AI may become the new "slave". AI may also help humans turn into a more advanced (less biological and more artificial) species. Chances are that no human who is alive today will ever see that form of transhumanism materialize. Some current humans may likely live in a transitional phase where AI will continue replacing human workers in every field, allowing humans more free time to become the new "slave masters" on Earth.  We have discussed in many past articles slavery as one of the foundational technologies (tools and methods) developed by humans. All great human civilizations were built on the backs of slaves and slavery-based agricultural economies. The machines of the industrial revolution eventually replaced slaves and freed them globally. AI is the new "slave" and will lead to a new "slavery-based" economy that will

Who will win the debate tonight? Who won the debate?

June 23, 2024 Who will win the debate tonight? Who won the debate? Who won the debate between Trump and Biden in 2024? Did Trump win the debate? Did Biden win the debate? Who lost the debate? Did Trump lose the debate? Did Biden lose the debate? Who will win the elections? How many electoral college votes are required to win the elections? Who scored more points with independent voters in key battleground states in the debate between Biden and Trump?  Those will be common search queries tonight and next week. The answers will be opinions so they will be based on the bias of the source and will be accepted or rejected based on the bias of the audience. The fact is that the future has not been created yet. It is impossible to determine who won or lost the debate until after knowing the results of the elections in November.  The results of the November presidential elections are equally unpredictable. Creatix predicts that Joe Biden will win by a clear margin, wider than in 2020. Mark thi

Is AI new?

June 18, 2023 Not at all. Artificial intelligence (AI) has been around for a long time. AI refers to computer hardware and software mimicking human intelligence. Recent innovations in the specific field of Generative AI such as ChatGPT are making many people believe that AI is a "new" thing. In fact, AI has been around for a long time, and can be said to be as old as the first programmable electronic computers of the 1930s.  For more on the history of AI, and specifically for more about the history of Generative AI, check out this excellent article by TechTarget.com , What is Generative AI? Everything you need to know.  The article above will give you a very good idea about the history of AI, and where we are going next with the technology. Below are some additional notes to spark a few thoughts. The term "computer" was coined in the 1600s to describe a person making calculations and computations.
