Is AI about to solve the Fermi Paradox?

October 6, 2023 No, AI is not close to solving the Fermi Paradox. Humanity does not seem to be anywhere close to finding scientifically verifiable signs of extraterrestrial life. AI is beginning to help. However, the universe remains too big and too dark for current human technologies to detect extraterrestrial life.  To make matters worse for humans, the universal property referred to as "dark energy" keeps expanding the universe and pushing galaxies farther apart from each other at an accelerated pace. It will take some time (maybe a lot of it) for AI to expand human technology to a level that can solve the Fermi Paradox. In the meantime, the bulk of humanity will keep filling in the void of knowledge (i.e. ignorance) with the soothing effects of faith-based mythology.  The Fermi Paradox, "Where's everybody?", is a question related to the search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI). The paradox is named after physicist Enrico Fermi and is essentially a con...

Will AI need sex to procreate?

October 5, 2023 No, AI will not need sex to reproduce and procreate. Instead of talking about sex, let's explore a little bit the topic of love.  From a neuroscience perspective, love is a neurochemical cocktail triggering attraction and bonding. There are different types of love such as romantic love, parental love, and fraternal love between friends. Although different in manifestation, all types of love relate to similar neurobiological mechanisms. Neurochemical Cocktail Party       Oxytocin. Often dubbed the "love hormone" or "bonding hormone," oxytocin plays a key role in attachment and social bonding. It is released during actual or imagined touch, hugging, sexual activity, and certain social activities.       Vasopressin. Vasopressin plays a role in long-term commitment and mate bonding.      Endorphins. These are the body's natural painkillers and can induce feelings of euphoria. They play a role in the pleasure associa...

Who will replace humans: AI or Genetically Modified Humans?

October 3, 2023 Genetically modified humans (GMHs) will most likely replace current humans before AI replaces GMHs. Genetic modifications on humans are currently prohibited by law in all advanced countries capable of conducting state-of-the-art genomic research. AI will gradually help humans change their attitudes about genomic modifications. At some point in time, genetic modifications on humans will become common practice. Eventually, GMHs will replace current humans not unlike how current humans displaced and replaced Neanderthals in Europe. Eventually, AI-enhanced GMHs will displace and replaced less advanced AI-enhanced GMHs and non AI-enhanced GMHs. This process will continue going on and literally evolving as time goes by. AI is not only a revolution, but the next phase in evolution. Neanderthals Europe was inhabited by Neanderthals before modern humans displaced and replaced them. The displacement of Neanderthals by anatomically modern Homo sapiens is a topic of much debate and...

Will AI replace financial advisors?

October 1, 2023 Yes, artificial intelligence (AI) will gradually replace most financial advisors. This will not happen right away. In the next few decades human advisors will continue babysitting and training AI in the art and science of financial advice. Eventually, specialized AI financial advisors will take over the industry. Most humans will welcome the change. Financial investing is about creating financial wealth not about preserving the status quo. This article goes over investing, types of wealth, financial wealth, role of financial advisors, common types of investments such as stocks, bonds, and real estate, stocks vs real estate, and future AI financial advisors.   Investing Investing refers to the act of allocating resources, usually money, into an endeavor or asset with the expectation of generating income or profit over time. The main goal of investing is to grow wealth over time.  Wealth refers to the abundance of valuable resources owned or possessed by an ...

Will AI lead the world in the 22nd century?

September 30, 2023 Yes, chances are that artificial intelligence (AI) will lead humanity in the 22nd century. In theory, leadership is about setting a compelling vision and guiding followers into accomplishing a mission. In reality, leadership is about taking care of subjects by rewarding submission and punishing opposition. As everything else in life, good leaders are those who can master agency (choice) managing pain and pleasure. This article discusses a wide range of topics related to leadership, especially political leadership. Politics is essentially the art and science of having power over people. AI will eventually (not any time soon) master the art of politics and have power of humans. For the reasons to be explored below, many humans (not all) will submit to AI's leadership and form a loyal followership. How could this be? You may ask if not completely dismissing it as impossible science fiction altogether.   Humans are primates. In general, primates choose leaders w...
