Is Tesla stock MAGA overpriced? When will Tesla stock go down?

January 21, 2025 Is Tesla stock MAGA overpriced? Absolutely. Tesla is trading at more than double its "true" market value. There's no "true" value because valuation is an intersubjective assessment between buyers and sellers in the marketplace. In reality, the "true" value is whatever the current value is. If the market wants Tesla shares to be valued at $1.34 trillion with shares selling at $426, that is the "true" value. However, that "truth" is not set in stone and is subject to change (up or down) at any point in time. We believe that Tesla is "supposed to" go down to about 30% its current market value. Whether the market will agree with us is both unknown and unlikely.   Is Tesla stock supposed to go down now that Trump will end the federal preference for electric vehicles? Yes, Tesla stock is supposed to go down, but that doesn't mean that it will.  On January 20, 2025, President Donald Trump dealt a massive blo...

Who Should Buy Tik Tok? Elon Musk for sure

January 19, 2025 Who Should Buy Tik Tok Operations in the US? Elon Musk. With a net worth of almost $440 billion, Elon Musk is well positioned to buy Tik Tok operations in the US. All the money has been given to Elon for free after the elections due to his connections to the Donald Trump. If Elon is smart, he should buy Tik Tok now before Tesla's stock faces an inevitable correction, which will wipe over $50 billion of Elon's wealth anyways.  Why is Tik Tok selling its operations in the US? On January 18, 2025, TikTok ceased its services in the United States in compliance with a federal law mandating its Chinese parent company, ByteDance, to divest its U.S. operations or face a nationwide ban. This action followed the Supreme Court's decision to uphold the law, citing national security concerns over data collection and potential influence by the Chinese government.  The legislation, known as the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act (PAFACA...

Is retirement a trap? Is it better to work until you drop? We believe so.

January 29, 2025 Retirement is a Trap: Appreciate the Value of Lifelong Work and Passion Retirement is sold to the masses as the ultimate reward for a lifetime of hard work—a heaven on Earth to rest, relax, and enjoy the fruits of one's labor. We see retirement as a potential trap that may lead to loss of purpose, social isolation, financial strain, and diminished health. Rather than retiring, perhaps it may be preferable to find another job or occupation that you can enjoy until the day you die. This perspective aligns with the wisdom of Confucius, who famously said, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” Rather than viewing retirement as an escape from work, it may be better to embrace a fulfilling career or vocation that one can pursue for a lifetime. This approach can foster purpose, vitality, and a sense of connection throughout life. The Retirement Trap 1. Loss of Purpose. Work is more than a source of income; it provides structure, purpo...

Can Trump trade Puerto Rico for Greenland?

January 18, 2025 Can Trump trade Puerto Rico for Greenland? No. Donald Trump (or any U.S. president) cannot trade Puerto Rico for Greenland. Such a notion is entirely unrealistic and lacks a basis in international law, U.S. constitutional law, and geopolitical norms. --- 1. Sovereignty and Consent. Greenland is an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark. Any decision involving Greenland’s territorial status would require the consent of:   The Greenlandic government because Greenland has significant self-rule).   The Danish government because Greenland belongs to the Kingdom of Denmark. Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory of the United States. Any decision about its territorial status would require the consent of:   The people of Puerto Rico, who arguably have a right to self-determination.   The U.S. Congress, which has authority over U.S. territories under the Constitution. A trade of sovereign territories would require the explicit consent of all ...

January 18, 2026 Will Jared Kushner get involved in the Second Trump Administration? Apparently not. It seems that Jared Kushner (JK) will stay away from any formal role in the Trump White House. Will February 2025 be a bad month for the stock market? What about the summer?

January 17, 2025 Will February 2025 be a bad month for the stock market? We believe so. No one knows what will happen. The future has not been created yet. There are three possibilities-and only three-for the stock market in February 2025: up - same - down (USD). The stock market may go up, may stay the same, or may go down. Historically, February is not the worst month for the stock market and is in the middle of the pack. The summer months, September, August, and June are typically the worst performers due to profit taking and summer vacations. February has been a mixed performer. February's relative position depends on the specific time period and data set analyzed. February's Historical Performance February is typically slightly weaker than average but not consistently he worst by any measure. On a rolling historical basis (e.g., over the past 75 years), February has produced small positive or near-flat returns, depending on market conditions. For the S&P 500, February ...

Is shorting Tesla stock a good idea?

January 16, 2025 Is shorting Tesla stock a good idea? What is shorting or short selling? Shorting a stock, also known as short selling, is a trading move to profit if a stock's price declines. It involves four steps: (1) borrowing the share; (2) selling it; (3) buying it; and (4) returning it to the lender. If the price decreases after the sale, you buy at a lower price, pocketing the difference as profit. If the stock price increases after you sold it, you have to pay more to buy back, incurring a loss.  Example: You believe Tesla's stock (currently priced at $413) will decrease in price. You borrow 25 shares from your broker and sell them for $10,325 ($413 x 25 shares). Assume that by the end of March, about two months after the Second Coming of Trump to the White House, the bromance between Trump and Musk begins to flounder or that people smell shit about the prospects of Musk's proxy presidency. Assume that Tesla's stock loses 20% in value, trading at $330 by March ...

Is now a good time to buy British pounds? Is the pound a good hedge against a potential decline of the U.S. dollar? Yes and Yes.

January 15, 2035 Is now a good time to buy British pounds as a hedge against a potential decline of the U.S. dollar?  Absolutely. The Great Britain Pound (GBP) to United States Dollar (USD) rate is at an historic low rate of 1.22. That is, 1 pound is worth 1.22 dollars today. This is almost 30% below the average pound to dollar exchange rate since 1971, which is approximately 1.70.  Year Average GBP/USD Exchange Rate In 1971, the pound and the dollar became fiat currencies after the collapse of the Bretton Woods Agreement. In 1944 many Western countries had entered into an agreement to promote monetary stability after the economic turmoil of the Great Depression and World War II. Signatories of the agreement pegged their currencies to the US Dollar, which in turn was convertible to gold at a fixed rate of $35 per ounce. The Bretton Woods system effectively ended in 1971 because the US government kept printing dollars in excess of its gold reserves to finance the Vietnam War ...

Are people in London getting nicer in 2025?

January 13, 2025 Are Londoners nicer in 2025?  We believe so. Compared to a couple of decades ago, London itself is much nicer and the people seem to be infused in the feeling. Everything seems to be going well and working alright in London.  With the Trump dollar so incredibly strong against the British pound, London feels affordable for Americans. Lodging, transportation, and food are surprisingly affordable.  Besides affordability, which is relative, London is visitor-friendly in many ways. Streets are clean and seem safe. Police presence is noticeable yet not overwhelming. Pickpocketing can be a risk while riding the underground metro like in all major European cities, but it should not be a problem if you secure your belongings and remain alert.  London is a foodies' paradise with high quality restaurants representing almost every ethnic culinary region in the world. Food options are as varied and cosmopolitan as London itself. Unlike Paris and Rome, where...

While the U.S. dollar may continue rising in the coming weeks and months, nothing lasts forever and everything changes.  The Euro is almost at parity with the U.S. dollar today, trading at $1.02. Who should buy TikTok? Mark Z or Musk? What about Trump?

January 12, 2025 Who should buy TikTok once it is banned in the United States? Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, and Donald Trump.  The U.S Government banned Chinese-owned social media giant TikTok citing national security concerns. The Chinese owners appealed the ban.  The U.S. Supreme Court will most likely uphold the  ban.  If you can't beat them, join them. If you can't join them, buy them. If you can ban them, buy them.  TikTok is the most addictive video sharing platform and as suchc one of the most valuable social media companies in the world. By banning the company due to its Chinese ownership, we could see a forced sale at a bargain price.  Who should take advantage of this opportunity? Any American company or billionaire who can.  Meta would be the most logical buyer because Meta reigns the social media industry. Meta was very worried initially about the surprising rise of TikTok. Meta immediately copied TikTok's AI algorithms in Reels, Meta'...

Where to pee in Roma Termini? McDonald's :)

January 12, 2025 Where to pee in Rome Termini? McDonald's :) Rome is one of our favorite cities in the world. It has so much history and "present" that it will be a fantastic destination for work and leisure in the rest of the 2020s. Rome is clean and feels safe in 2025. Its weather in January is mild and pleasant, in the 50s without practically any wind or rain.  If you find yourself in Rome's main train station, Roma Termini, note that using the restroom will cost you 1.20 euros. For Americans, it is hard to get used to the idea of paying for using the restroom. The 1.20 euro fee feels steep. It can add up quickly if you are with a group or family. Recommendation, go to the McDonald's across from the station (not the one inside), buy a snack, and get a code to use the restroom. You can buy a plain hamburger or a small chicken sandwich for 1.80 euros and use the restrooms.  Anyway, here's our list of "must-see" attractions in Rome: 1. Colosseum. On...

Is Meta the stock to own in 2025?

January 10, 2025 Is Meta the stock to own in 2025? Absolutely. Meta is quickly becoming the darling of institutional investors this year. The social media giant looks like a bargain at $616 per share and a price-to-earnings ratio of 29. We predict a P/E ratio of 50 by the end of the year. Mark our prediction to hold us accountable. We anticipate Meta doing a 6-way stock split before the spring. Meta's current valuation of $1.55T can be expected to rise to about $2.65T by December 2025. Why are institutional investors so bullish on Meta? AI. If any company has big data on humans, that is Meta. Meta has been collecting all sorts of data on billions of humans worldwide. Meta can leverage all that data to create AI social media "friends" and assistants for humanity. While other companies like Elon Musk's Tesla believe they can provide AI "hardware" gadgets like self-driving cars and AI robots, success in that realm is still a few decades away. In the meantime, M...
