Will AI solve all problems?

January 12, 2024 No, artificial intelligence (AI) will not solve all problems of humanity. AI will solve many problems and in so doing will generate even more problems. That is Problem Paradox. The solution to a problem creates even more problems. That is the way of progress and it is probably inevitable.  Artificial intelligence (AI) is computerized human-like intelligence. Intelligence is problem-solving ability. Problem solving is all about data processing. Problem solving entails identifying the problem, finding out what causes the problem, and implementing changes to solve the problem. Those three tasks require processing data to run comparisons, detect patterns of causal correlations, and simulate changes in input or processing that can lead to changes in results (i.e. solutions).  Since intelligence is all about problem solving, and problem solving is all about data processing, AI will continue developing an intelligence edge over human intelligence. In the near future,...

Can AI help humans transcend biological life?

January 11, 2024  Artificial intelligence (AI) can help humans transcend biology, replacing it with technology. This article briefly touches on genetics, DNA, and RNA. They are realities of biological life that may prove completely useless and irrelevant for the future of smart life in the universe.  Life can be seen as organic compounds seeking electromagnetic stability. Physics and chemistry lead to the formation of organic molecules and compounds. As these organic compounds interact with each other, the "magic" of biology comes to life. There is no magic, but rather a compounded aggregation of many interconnected actions and reactions of organic chemistry.   As examples, let's briefly and in simple terms discuss the two most famous molecules of organic life: DNA and RNA. These are acids in the nucleus or center of cells, and are thus called nucleic acids. Ribonucleic acid is RNA. Deoxyribonucleic acid is DNA. Both DNA and RNA are made of a sugar bound to a phospha...

What books to read to avoid killing yourself according to AI?

January 10, 2024 Biological life is difficult. The human condition is painful. To make matters worse, humans are smart enough to imagine perfection. Humans can imagine living free of problems and challenges. They can compare that imaginary ideal to their real ordeal to generate feelings of desperation and depression. For some humans, the pain of living can be so high that they prefer to escape it by ending their lives. Suicide is not a solution. Humans contemplating suicide should seek help. In the United States, humans can dial 988 to reach the National Suicide Prevention Line. There are many other crisis support services that can be found online. In case of emergencies, humans in the United States should dial 911 for emergency help. All life is precious. Let's fight for it. Let's learn how to live better lives. Artificial intelligence (AI) can be a life saver for humans. AI can help humans find inspirational information and guidance that can help them build resilience in life...

Have you heard about Apple's Ferret AI?

January 8, 2024 If you think an apple is a fruit that can serve as a healthy snack, and that a ferret is a small weasel mammal that can serve as a pet, you are totally correct. However, you may be missing on the latest on AI. Apple, the computer company, is launching Ferret, a game changer and crusader in the generative AI marketplace and technology battlespace. Ferret is Apple's new AI system with a combination of natural language processing (NLP) and computer vision (CV) capabilities that will rock the AI world in 2024.  Apple has been investing in artificial intelligence (AI) for a long time. Apple recently announced its fine-grained referring transformer ("Ferret") AI system. Apple's Ferret combines state-of-the-art natural language processing (NLP) and computer vision. Ferret is like an advanced version of ChatGPT with superhuman computer vision.  Apple's Ferret system uses the contrasting language-image pretraining vision transformer (CLIP ViT) model to anal...

Will AI replace human entrepreneurs?

January 7, 2024  No, AI will not replace or displace human entrepreneurs any time soon. Entrepreneurship, investing, manual trades, in-person occupations, and licensed professions are the best protections against AI disruption and job displacement.  Artificial intelligence (AI) will replace and displaced millions of knowledge workers in the upcoming decades. Just like motor engines replaced and displaced animals (cattle, horses, and humans) after the industrial revolution, AI will replace and displace humans after the AI revolution.  From a technological standpoint, there is not much humans can do to avoid being replaced and displaced by smarter and more convenient AI. In the human world, convenience always prevails. AI is a convenient technology and will prevail. Having said that, there are ways to mitigate and delay the impact of being replaced and displaced by AI. Investing, entrepreneurship, manual trades, in-person occupations, and licensed professions are the ones w...

Should AI be sold like a utility similar to water and electricity?

January 6, 2024 Yes, artificial intelligence (AI) should be provided to human societies like a commodity or utility. Not unlike water and electricity are provided today to sustain and propel progress, AI will be provided to enhance the quality of human life. Below let's take a look at water, electricity, and AI.  Water Water is formed by the combination of two atoms of hydrogen with one atom of oxygen (H2O). Water is tasteless, odorless, and nearly colorless liquid at room temperature, with a slight blue tint. Visible water is made up of billions or trillions of molecules, each containing one oxygen atom and two hydrogen atoms held together by strong covalent bonds (sharing of electrons). Water is essential for organic life serving as medium and solvent for the electromagnetic interactions that maintain life.  Water is the most studied chemical compound and is described as the "universal solvent" and the "solvent of life". It is the main constituent of Earth...
